About Wok the Talk
The COVID-19 crisis has caused widespread disruption to vulnerable groups, as well as service providers including hawkers, taxi/private hire drivers and migrant workers.
Vulnerable groups such as persons with special needs, seniors, and less-privileged youth face difficulties affording or accessing food and necessities. Meanwhile, service providers experience a drop in job activities and income.
Here at YMCA, we ‘wok the talk’, to reach out and support both service providers and vulnerable groups during this season.

BENEFICIARIES NEED
1. GROCERY PACKS
We support seniors with grocery packs based on their needs and deliver it to their doorsteps. This prevents them from having to leave the house and reduces their exposure to others, safeguarding their health against COVID-19.
2. HAWKER MEALS
We work with hawkers and drivers to provide meals for the most vulnerable groups in Singapore. This benefit both clients and service providers, who are experiencing a decline in patronage and income during the COVID-19 pandemic.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
For Volunteers (Special Cases)
1. I’m keen to volunteer for WTT!
Thank you for your willingness to contribute!
While WTT engages paid taxi/private hire drivers to deliver most meals, we still require volunteer drivers to assist in the delivery as there are some clients who require a different arrangement. We are currently looking for volunteer drivers from 11 May to 3 July.
Commitment period: 5 weekdays, except Public Holidays
Volunteer shift: 11am to 1pm, 4.30pm to 7pm
Location: Island-wide
Volunteers will be added to a group chat nearer to the day of their volunteer shift. Exact address will be shared as well.
2. Where is the pick-up point?
Volunteers will pick up the food from the pick-up point (to be confirmed) and deliver to several household units island-wide.
3. Is meal delivery contactless?
Yes. For your safety and well-being, please do not enter the clients’ house. Volunteers can knock on their door to inform the clients of your arrival.
4. What should I do when the clients are not at home to receive the meals?
If the clients are not at home, volunteers are to place the food outside their door, take a picture of the food, together with the unit number and inform YMCA staff in our group chat. The staff will inform the centre in charge of the clients’ absence.
